Life Without Humour, I Can’t Imagine It

Have you ever thought about what life would be like without humour? You know, like when you’re out eating dinner with your friends and they make that one hilarious joke that makes everyone at the dinner table go crazy with laughter. What would life exactly be like without that? Well this blog post will tell you exactly what that would be like.

What exactly does humour do for us in our everyday life? Humour itself has many social benefits. One of its benefits is actually that it helps dominant individuals like your boss control you because it is actually a way to control the emotional state of the work environment, so that also means that humour can cheer you up when your down in the dumps (Brain). Another benefit is that humour is what helps everyone strengthen their relationships with other. Some believe that laughing is the sign of relaxation and comfort, so when you laugh that means your relaxing and your comfortable with the current surroundings (Brain). Have you ever been poked by a friend while you were laughing? Well if you have, thats because laughing has been scientifically proven to disable the fight or flight system, which is a human instinct that when we face danger we either fight it or run away, so thats why we are so vulnerable and thats also why laughter is a sign of relaxation (Brain). So now that you know that, can you even imagine Monday’s without humour, there would be no fun in life at all.

Did you know that to be humorous, is to be healthy? Well thats another benefit of humour. According to the article How Laughter Works by Marshall Brain, It has been proven that laughter can help you with both with physical health and mental health. Laughing can put a balance in your immune system, which protects you from diseases, and colds. Mentally, humour can also help you reduce stress, depression and anger, which lowers your hostility towards others and yourself.

How about humour in a teen’s life? Well, to all the adults reading this, you guys probably know that during this stage of a humans life, they tend to get very emotional and suffer from all the negative emotions coming in, but with humour they are able to release all these negative emotions without harming anyone (Brain). Also humour can help teen’s with their life at school. It has been scientifically proven that humour can help with concentration actually but then again it does interrupt teachers while they are speaking. So that’s how humour affects a teens life (Brain).

So now can you try imagine what life is like without humour? Well that gonna be pretty hard because life would be so bad that you can’t even imagine it, but the closest thing to what life is like without humour is probably having no life, life without humour is like life without fun. Think about this question for a while and someday you might just be able to imagine what life would be like without humour.
